Slavic cuisine, although often seen as simple and rustic, hides a wealth of flavours and aromas that have delighted palates for centuries. Our ancestors' main meals were not only food but also family gatherings and an occasion to celebrate at a richly laid table. What can we take from their culinary tradition today? Join us on a culinary journey through Slavic lunches at Wyraj!
Slavic cuisine was based on produce that was easy to grow or gather from nature. The Slavs cooked with what they found and collected in the meadows and forests. These ingredients formed the basis of many dishes:
From these simple ingredients we have created a unique menu where everyone can enjoy the taste of a real Polish lunch in an unusual form.
At Wyraj you can eat herb-scented zalewajka, game, salads, fish and even crayfish. Our mushroom dishes are very popular: fried saffron milk caps with cabbage and porcini in butter.
For the more demanding food lover, we recommend guinea fowl breast in a meat sauce and pike-perch served with pumpkin dumplings and sea buckthorn sauce.
For vegetarians there are delicious salads made from fresh ingredients and, as a hot dish, a celery layer cake with mushroom sauce, with truffle and onion oil for extra aroma.
For dessert we recommend a buttery apple cake topped with a sweet sauce made from egg yolks and cream. Pickled apple with warming cloves is a combination that delights.
